Cervia |
Lovely parkland /woodland course near the sea
in Cervia. The course is mostly flat so easy walking but
this venerable course measures 6,800 yards off the back tees
with most greens and fairways surrounded by mature trees and
bunkers - condition is always excellent so put it on your
list. |
|
Bologna |
Top class 40 year old Henry Cotton design at
the foot of the Apennines. Nothing extravagant about the
layout , no spectacular signature hole - just solid top
class parkland on rolling terrain with some tight fairways
and well bunkered greens. Only the best amongst you will
want somewhere tougher. |
|
Modena |
Bernard Langer design on flat mature land
just outside Modena. There's plenty of width in the fairways
but bunkering is excellent and the water features ,
particularly on the par 3s add significantly to the
challenge without being over dominant. Good quality
enjoyable golf. |
|
Rimini |
Super almost linksy course south of the town
of Rimini. Wide flat fairways with many traps for the unwary
and well presented water make this high quality course
thoroughly enjoyable. |
|
Le
Fonti |
Just about 10 years old this is a super
course and a real addition to the available golf in the
area. A combination of tight and wide fairways . well
protected greens and a couple of great water holes add up
,to good and improving golf course. |

Cosmopolitan |
Close to the Med and very handy for Pisa
Airport this is a good and enjoyable choice - voted best new
course in Italy when it opened in 1993.There are water
features on 11 holes and lots of wildlife about with a
feature hole the par 4 16th which is literally an island in
the sand. Most enjoyable |
|
Poggio dei Medici |
Absolutely top class course , amongst the
best in Italy and designed by Baldovio Dassu to exacting
USGA standards. Located in the beautiful Mugello Hills close
to Florence and is of a quality that you travel a long way
to match. |
|
Ugolino |
Beautifully sited amongst olive and cypress
grove in the Tuscan Hills with undulating fairways and well
protected greens Ugolino is a test of accuracy and finesse
rather than raw power - it's only just over 6,000 yards but
it's good test of golf - iron play in particular. |
|
Le Pavoniere |
Arnold Palmer design with some undulations
but mostly flat with American characteristics in a Tuscan
landscape. Big, wide fairways with massive undulating greens
and a good bit of water and a really smart clubhouse - very
enjoyable |
|
Montecatini |
Near the lovely spa town of Montecatini Terme
this course winds its way through the Tuscan hills with
sloping undulating fairways. The course is quite technical
with a variety of obstacles - sand , water and sharp dog
legs - demands accuracy not just length and very often the
club choice off the tee is all important to be in the right
position to score. Enjoyable and fair test of golf. |
|
Versilia |
Near the Med with impressive views of the
mountains behind, this nice parkland layout is well
conditioned with a lot of water about. The big test however
are the greens which are very quick and sloping. |
|
Tirrenia |
Absolutely superb Henry Cotton designed 9
holes course close to the sea and very close to
Cosmopolitan. It's a great choice to fill a couple of hours
before or after the plane but you won't be disappointed to
make a day of it and go round twice. Clubhouse is very warm
and friendly with great Tuscan food. |
|
Punta Ala |
40 years old now and an hour from Pisa down
the coast road Punta Ala is set in forest but with great
views over the Med. The excellent clubhouse is the high
point of the courses which falls away down to the sea -
great views ,good golf - most enjoyable. |
|
Toscana |
Close to Punta Ala and again close by the sea
with clear day views to Elba and Montecristo - not over long
at 6400 yards but very enjoyable with some water features
but with nicely shaped and contoured holes. Resort complex
location. |
